OKLAHOMA CITY – The $1.1 billion Tinker Federal Credit Union, the state's largest, has opened its first branch in Tulsa, as part of an expansion program to reach its members and SEGS outside metropolitan Oklahoma City. The new branch, complete with Internet caf and "a new retail look," had its first open house last week in leased space in a shopping mall. It is Tinker's 13th full service branch with plans being studied to look at other parts of the state where Tinker has members and potential SEGs, said Matt Stratton, senior vice president of marketing. "We are looking at opening a branch in Ada early next year where we have a community charter for an underserved community," said Stratton. Ada is some 60 miles southeast of Oklahoma City. Tinker Federal, with 160,000 members, also has branches in Enid, home of a military base where it has members. The Tulsa branch, said Stratton, will have the latest in electronic billboards including stock tickers, news tape, and product promotion. Members can use the computers to access online with employees also giving instruction on Tinker's home banking and bill paying services.
