NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The $1 billion Volunteer Corporate CU has gone Nashville. The corporate moved from its Brentwood headquarters to a new 18,600 facility in Nashville. The brand new building cost about $1.8 billion. "It's a great facility. We purchased the land two years ago. It took about a year for design and eight months for construction. It's not an ivory tower or a landmark building. It's built for one thing, to serve credit unions," said VolCorp President/CEO Bruce Fahnestock. He said VolCorp will save about $8,000 a month by owning rather than renting. It is paying about $97 per square foot for the newly-constructed facility. The building boasts a full card reader security system, large boardroom with a 35-person capacity that can be converted into a 16-computer training room, two smaller conference rooms, a 2,000 square foot on-site storage area, a computer-generated HVAC system, and a new phone system with back-up phone and electrical generator systems. Located at 2460 Atrium Way, it is near the major interstate and just two miles from Nashville International Airport. It's about 13 miles from the corporate's former headquarters. Fahnestock said the building is more than just a new facility, it's a statement that VolCorp is here to stay. "We'll end the year adding about 22 basis points to the bottomline, which is what we budgeted. We don't forget that we are just here for our credit unions," said Fahnestock. VolCorp does have a national FOM, with members currently in Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky, Georgia, South Carolina and West Virginia.
