LATHAM, N.Y. – The New York State Credit Union League set up an Election Day Headquarters for its employees here. The headquarters was brightly decorated in patriotic red, white, and blue by the Governmental Affairs department to encourage employees to vote and to give them access to information to make doing so easier including: what are the local and federal races, election district information, maps of Congressional and State legislative districts, articles about the Governor's race, and a 2002 voters guide on local races from the Albany Times Union. The League's "Get Out The Vote" efforts began earlier this fall by encouraging all credit union professionals, volunteers and members to participate in local campaigns on a grassroots level by making their presence known at credit union-friendly candidates' rallies, attending political fundraisers, taking part in candidates' nightly phone banks and literature drops.
