FLINT, Mich. – SECURITY Federal Credit Union and its President/CEO Terry Pierce, were recently awarded the 2002 Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) State Chairman's Award for exceptional support of its employees who are members of the National Guard and Reserve. Nominated by John Scott, information systems manager for SECURITY FCU and Battalion S1 Supervisor, 146 Forward Support Battalion for the Michigan Army National Guard, SECURITY FCU was among those recognized by the United States Department of Defense and honored at the ESGR Annual Awards Dinner. "We understand the importance of supporting the Guard and Reserve, especially during a time of international conflict," said Pierce. "These people protect our nation and way of life-at a minimum we can understand the circumstances and support their military commitment. We are honored to receive this award." The National Committee for ESGR Employer Recognition Awards, on behalf of the DOD, recognizes employers that practice personnel policies that support employee participation in the National Guard and Reserve. The local ESGR State Chairman's Award is presented annually by each ESGR Committee and recognizes those employers who have gone above and beyond the legal requirements for granting leave for military duty.
