AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta Metro Federal Credit Union is the first Augusta credit union to join the nationwide credit union shared branching network offered in Georgia by Cooperative Services, Inc. "Our Board was excited about the opportunity to provide our members with many more locations to do business," said AMFCU President/CEO Sherry Thomas. "We have members who travel in their work. Providing members with credit union service centers in other Georgia cities and around the nation has become a more important part of our strategy to better serve our members." Thomas expects that by the end of 2002 AMFCU will be live as an issuer credit union, at which time members will be able to transact business at over 850 locations nationwide -with more than 50 in Georgia. "We also hope to become an acquiring credit union by mid -2003," Augusta Metro FCU has $49 million in assets and serves over 11,000 members. CSI is a credit union service organization owned by 60 Georgia credit unions that provide shared branch services and other services to its owners and other customers.
