NEW ORLEANS – Representatives, including staff and board members, from firefighter-based credit unions around the U.S. will meet together for the first time at a special meeting convening Sept. 19-21 at the Sheraton New Orleans. The meeting is being organized by Bill Rogers, president of William Rogers & Associates, and Linda Bikoff, of Support Processes Corp, at the request of Grant Sheehan, president, Miami Firefighters CU, and Mike Mastro, president, Los Angeles Firemens CU. The meeting is scheduled to coincide with the annual conference of the Combined Council of Automotive Credit Unions (CCACU) that's also being held at the Sheraton. At press time, Bikoff said the firefighters CU-meeting had drawn about 35 registrants. Attendees from both conferences will share the exhibition hall, but other than that Bikoff said the two meetings are separate. The fire fighters-based CU conference will be organized to facilitate roundtable discussions on pertinent issues, including said Bikoff, discussion about the CUs' fields-of-membership. According to Bikoff, there has been discussion among some of the credit unions on whether they should expand their field-of-membership to include non-firefighters.
