EasCorp, Woburn, Mass., has announced that four Massachusetts credit union representatives ran the 106th Boston Marathon on behalf of patients at Children’s Hospital Boston. As part of the yearlong fundraising efforts, many Massachusetts credit unions sponsor fundraising events to help raise funds for sick and injured children at the hospital. This year’s runners were affiliated with five credit unions: Digital FCU, Hanscom FCU, Northern MA Telephone Workers CU, Quincy Municipal CU and Tremont CU. Credit union representative runners raised more than $60,000 through the 2002 marathon and other special events. Chartway Federal Credit Union, Virginia Beach, Va., has held its 2nd Annual “Cookout for a Cure”. Over 100 employees and guests showed up for the two-day event, which included a spring plant sale and car wash. All of the proceeds were donated to the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life. Partnering with local radio station FM99, CFCU also handed out over 100 tickets to the SpiderMan movie as prizes.
