MADISON, Wis.-CUNA's Board recently unanimously passed two resolutions honoring credit union "giants" Carroll Beach and Dick Johnson. Former Colorado Credit Union Leagues President Carroll Beach retired earlier this year. The resolution honoring Beach partially read, "WHEREAS, Carroll D. Beach has served as a tireless supporter, leader, and champion of the credit union movement for the past 40 years, not only in Colorado and Wyoming, but throughout the United States and internationally." It also noted his receiving the Herb Wegner Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award, the Eugene H. Farley League Leadership Award, and the AACUL Eagle Award. The resolution honoring Dick Johnson, the now-retired CEO of WesCorp, emphasized his work in the corporate credit union community as Chairman of the Corporate Forum, Vice Chairman of U.S. Central Credit Union, and Vice Chairman of the Congress of Centrals among others. The resolution read, "WHEREAS, every credit union and every credit union member in the U.S. has benefited from his dedication to ensuring that corporate credit unions provide the best possible value to credit unions."
