RICHMOND, Va. – Virginia Attorney General Jerry Kilgore has asked Virginia Credit Union League President/CEO Rick Pillow to serve on the state's new 24-member Identity Theft Task Force. The task force, which consists of technology and business leaders, legislators, and citizens who have been victimized, will hold town hall meetings statewide in the coming months. Their findings will be assimilated and presented next year in a report to Virginia's General Assembly. The FTC has classified identity theft as the nation's fastest-growing crime. Up to 700,000 people each year have their identities stolen. Kilgore's office reports it receives calls every day on the issue.
