WASHINGTON – More evidence of how integral the Internet is to Americans' daily life, including the financial life that credit unions are committed to serve, is at the heart of a new survey just released by a prominent national think tank. In a report, titled "Use of the Internet at Major Life Moments", the Pew Internet & American Life Project reported that 9 million Americans (22% of respondents) say the Internet played a crucial or important role in a major financial or investment decision they had made in the past year or so. The Pew study, based on responses from 1,415 Internet users surveyed in January, also found that about 14 million Americans (27% of respondents) who purchased cars in the past two years also say the Internet played a big role in that decision. Similar results were found for such areas as education and where to live, but only a very few people said the online world was crucial in their love lives, whether it was looking for a spouse or getting divorced.
