WASHINGTON-The Oklahoma Credit Union Leagued scored a coup when it met with five of its eight elected officials in Washington during their Hike the Hill visit recently. Many times only staff are available, though they are very informed on issues also. The Oklahoma Credit Union League's Lisa Finley said the credit union delegates met with Senator Don Nickles (R) and Congressmen John Sullivan (R), Brad Carson (D), Ernest Istook (R), and Financial Services Committee Member Frank Lucas (R). Topics of discussion ranged from bankruptcy reform to Individual Development Accounts to deposit insurance reform to regulatory relief. A big issue specific to Oklahoma right now is the redistricting process, which has gone into the courts, Finley said. Four Republicans came up with a plan that the courts are considering presently.
