<p>MOBILE, Ala. – The Mobile Chapter of credit unions recently joined CU-VOTE, a credit union consumer advocacy council in hosting an open forum for all candidates who are entered in the race to take the place of Alabama Congressman Sonny Callahan who will not seek re-election in November. Ten of the 12 candidates seeking office participated in the forum. After an informal meet-and-greet between the candidates and the audience, candidates gave opening statements. They then each answered questions from the audience that were submitted in writing. When asked about the credit union tax exemption, all the candidates stated that they supported it and would continue to support CUs and the tax exemption.</p>
