<p>Pen Air Federal Credit Union, Fla., has raised $16,000 for the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS) during its annual Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society Golf Tournament. The NMCRS helps military families in times of financial emergencies. Lincoln Chapter of Credit Unions, Neb., has presented a check to the Nebraska Credit Union League for $4,500 to benefit Credit Unions for Kids. The donation is the result of fundraising efforts coordinated by the Chapter over the past year including 50/50 drawings at Chapter meetings, a credit union night at the ballpark and a golf tournament. These funds, which are the most raised by any Chapter this year, are also in addition to the fundraising of individual credit unions within the Chapter. OPCS Federal Credit Union, Orchard Park, N.Y., employees have donated their time to help keep children safe by co-sponsoring a fingerprinting and photo ID program with the Orchard Park Police department. OPCS FCU staff and police officers offered the fingerprinting and picture-taking services during the Orchard Park Chamber of Commerce Trade Show, which is open to the general public. By the end of the two-day show, they had seen nearly 200 children, from toddlers to 16-year-olds. Michigan First Credit Union, Detroit, has recently donated approximately $3,000 worth of used computer equipment to the Golightly Career and Technical Center, a vocational school in the Detroit Public School system. The donation included file servers, workstations, network communications equipment, and network printers. The equipment will be used to support the school’s new Academy of Information Technology, a 2-year training program that teaches Information Technology skills. Portland Teachers Credit Union, Ore., has donated $35,133 to Credit Union For Kids, an effort that includes credit unions from Oregon and southwest Washington. In existence since 1986, the program benefits Portland’s Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, and the pediatric units of Sacred Heart Medical Center in Eugene, and Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford. PTCU’s donation was based on 25 cents per member.</p>
