<p>Co-op Services Credit Union, Livonia, Mich., has awarded five college scholarships to outstanding high school seniors. Since 1995 Co-op Services CU has donated a total of $56,000 in scholarships. This year's recipients include Matthew Nielsen, $4,000 renewable; Danielle Clinton, $1,000; Lindsay Sgriccia,$1,000; Robyn Kuula, $500; and Courtney Busch, $500. Bell-Tel Credit Union, Orlando, Fla., and the Paul H. Higgs family have awarded four $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors. Applicants for this year's scholarships were required to submit an essay focusing on the credit union philosophy and what sets credit unions apart from other financial institutions. The four winners include Megan Clauss, Stephanie Gocklin, Joshua Snyder, and April-Ann Wilson. Indiana University Employees Federal Credit Union, Bloomington, Indiana, has awarded $20,000 in scholarships to members who are either full- or part-time students at Indiana University or Ivy Tech State College. The scholarships provide assistance to adult students who are returning to college after a hiatus of two or more consecutive years. Winners for Indiana University included: Jerry Ashba; Eric Ban, Karen Bauer, Kelly Corcoran, Neil Feder, Jennifer Richards, Shauna Steele, and Michella Taylor. Ivy Tech State College students who received awards were: Jill Bird, Molly El Mouhajir, Shirley Garvin, and Bliss Isom. Educational Employees Credit Union, St. Louis, Mo., has awarded 25 high school seniors each $1,000 scholarships. EECU has sponsored community-based scholarships for almost 20 years, translating into approximately $286,000 in scholarship money. Scholarship recipients are selected based on a combination of academic excellence, appropriate honors and awards, community participation, recommendations, and the student-written essay. To date, more than 286 students have benefited from EECU's scholarship programs. NW Farmers Insurance Group Federal Credit Union, Tigard, Ore., has awarded eight local students the Mark Shaw Memorial Scholarship. Beginning this fall, the following students will receive $2,000 each school year for up to four years: Allison Loberg; Andrew Lawrence; Cole Stutheit; Lauren Thorson; Brian Frey; Elise Mayes; Joshua Faulkner; and Sarah Purdy. Since 1990, $90,000 in scholarships has been awarded to deserving students. Mountain America Credit Union, Salt Lake City, Utah, has awarded three members each a $1,000 scholarship. Award recipients are selected based on skills, scholastic ability, community service, financial need and future plans. This year's winners include Andrea Dowell, who will be going into nursing at Southern Utah University; Marsha Latham, who is currently enrolled at Weber State University working toward her degree in business administration; and Brett Panhorst, who will attend Utah State University and pursue a degree in Elementary Education.</p>
