Over the past several years, dozens of credit unions and CU organizations have volunteered to be featured in original, full-page, color testimonial advertisements touting the many benefits of being a subscriber of Credit Union Times. One of these ads, known as house ads, runs in every issue, usually in the back half of the publication (see page 46). Their purpose is to testify to reader satisfaction and, frankly, to promote more paid subscriptions. Naturally we are pleased that so many individual credit union CEOs, CU staffs, credit union boards of directors, and CU leaders want to say in print how much they find each weekly issue of Credit Union Times to be interesting and useful. What readers may not realize is that the copy for every testimonial ad is written by those in the ad, not by the staff of this publication. And that they also come up with the photographs that appear in the ads. And that all those featured have put their money where there mouth is because they have multiple paid subscriptions. We have to admit, it's a nice feeling to have so many satisfied customers willing to go on record that Credit Union Times is meeting their news and information needs. That sure beats us having to pat ourselves on the back like other credit union publications do. By the way, any multiple paid subscribers who would like to be included in this ongoing series need only contact publisher Mike Welch. -
