<p>California Credit Union League, Rancho Cucamonga, has nominated The Golden 1 Credit UnionAdministrative Planning/Project Coordinator Amy Penick, for the World Council of Credit Unions' Young Credit Union Professionals Scholarship. This annual scholarship program is awarded to five young credit union professionals and leaders from within the international credit union movement by sponsoring their attendance at the 2003 WOCCU International Credit Union Leadership Institute in Brisbane, Australia. Penick has also been asked, as a 2001 Tomorrow's Star recipient, to represent future credit union leaders at the World Council's Sixth International Credit Union Leadership Institute in Warsaw, Poland, in June 2002. Penick is a member of the California Credit Union League's Sacramento Valley chapter where she visits local schools and makes presentations on financial awareness and credit union philosophy. BELLCO Credit Union, Denver, Colo., has awarded its first $10,000 scholarship to 21-year old Amber McDonald. A single mother of two, McDonald attends Denver's Metropolitan State College as a full-time freshman. McDonald chose to go back to school after dropping out of high school a few years ago and is interested in pursuing healthcare management.</p>
