At the opening general session of CUNA's GAC, American Airlines FCU President/CEO John Tippets presented CUNA President/CEO Dan Mica with a painting in appreciation for CUNA's work in getting Congressional support for financial aid legislation for airlines. The airlines were reeling after the events of Sept. 11, and the legislation helped some of them avoid bankruptcy. The painting depicts an eagle soaring high above storm clouds, as the nation in many respects has triumphed in the face of adversity.
