PLANO, Texas – EDS has purchased the assets of San Anselmo, Calif.-based Minerva Computer Systems, a 19-year old provider of accounting and analysis products for credit unions, including its primary product, Wisdom 2000 asset/liability management product. Papers for the purchase were signed in mid-January, and the legal fine points were "ironed out" in February. EDS was Minerva Systems' largest customer prior to the transaction, and approximately 140 of EDS' more than 2,400 credit union clients were already part of Minerva's 485 customer base. While EDS' product portfolio included core, item and ATM and debit card services and electronic business services, it did not have an asset/liability management product. Minerva's Wisdom 2000 ALM product fills that niche. The Windows-based product was designed specifically for credit unions and features user friendly menus common to credit union terminology and procedures. Up to 350 people can use the system concurrently on a network. The software automatically generates the credit union's business plan with financials that match with actual figures generated by the system, and automatically generates an action plan from planning worksheets. CU employees can edit the default business plan or merge it with an existing plan.
