WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – With credit unions in Hawaii growing in prominence, it has become increasingly important for Credit Union Times to provide timely coverage of news concerning the state's credit unions despite a six-hour time difference between Hawaii and our offices. George Furukawa has joined our team of correspondents and will provide on-site coverage of news concerning Hawaii's credit unions. Born on the island of Oahu and a graduate of the University of Hawaii, Manoa, with a degree in journalism, Furukawa has worked in journalism for 25 years in various editorial positions for daily, weekly and monthly publications. Furukawa still lives on Oahu in the community of Pearl City, located about 15 miles from Honolulu. When he's not writing, he enjoys listing to classical and light jazz music, reading and relaxing and picnicking on Oahu's beaches.
