NASCUS sent a letter to Johnson and Matz inviting them to meet with NASCUS leadership during CUNA's upcoming GAC in February. "We are very eager to begin working with Senator Johnson and Ms. Matz and develop long-lasting working relationships with each of them as they assume these vital roles," said NASCUS President Doug Duerr. Former NASCUS Chairman Jim Forney, superintendent of Credit Unions in Iowa was particularly pleased by Johnson's ascension from the State Senate of their home state to the NCUA Board.
