<p>TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Representatives from credit unions throughout the state met at the Doubletree Hotel here January 31 for the Florida Credit Union League's 2002 Legislative Summit. Mark Flanagan (R-Bradenton), chairman of the Florida House Committee on Banking was scheduled to deliver the welcoming address. Other speakers scheduled to appear and address the Summit were: Florida Comptroller Robert Milligan, head of the Florida Department of Banking & Finance; and John McKechnie, CUNA Senior Vice President of Government Affairs. Following the morning presentations, attendees had the opportunity to "Hike the Hill" and visit with their state legislators in the Capitol through meetings arranged by league staff. "Credit unions in Florida have become more and more excited about participating in these type of events, and elected officials have taken note of that," said FCUL Executive Vice President Aletta Shutes.</p>
