By PAUL GENTILE CU Times Editor SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO – Credit union people who have been itching to ask NCUA Chairman Dennis Dollar something about RegFlex or incidental powers but never had the chance, may get their chance during an upcoming Webcast. Dollar and Senior Staff Attorney Mike McKenna will discuss RegFlex and incidental powers in a Feb. 12 Webcast conducted by consulting firm Counter Intelligence Associates, San Juan Capistrano, Calif. The Webcast will be broadcast live from Dollar’s office at NCUA headquarters. The first half-hour of the Webcast will be a Q&A session with Dollar. Those who sign up for the Webcast will view it from Counter Intelligence’s Web site (www.counterintel.com) and have the ability to ask Dollar questions regarding RegFlex and incidental powers via the site. Viewers simply type their question in a pop-up box at the CIA site and the question will be sent to servers in Alexandria, Va. where it may or may not be asked by CIA’s Thomas Glatt, Jr., who will conduct the interviews. Glatt said that questions coming in from around the country will be aggregated into a server and grouped so similar questions are not asked separately. Glatt will view the questions through a teleprompter. The entire broadcast will be live with no rehearsal. Glatt said the scheduled one-hour Webcast may go longer depending on the volume and variety of questions. McKenna will offer more of the nuts and bolts answers on RegFlex and incidental powers in the second half-hour of the broadcast, said Glatt. The Webcast carries a $90 fee for any credit union wishing to attend. There is no limit on how many people can be at any given site that has paid the fee. CIA has emerged as one of the leading Webcast providers in credit union land. It has a number of Webcasts slated for 2002, including an upcoming one in California on HR issues. CIA is a CUSO of Community America CU. Glatt said over the past few years CIA has been building up its infrastructure to do high-quality Webcasting from anywhere in the country. CIA’s Webcast capabilities gained recognition a few years back at NAFCU’s Annual Conference where it debuted the capability in the exhibit hall, interviewing Dollar, NAFCU President/CEO Fred Becker and other CU leaders. “This will be a two or three camera set-up, similar to a Today Show format,” said Glatt. According to CIA, even credit unions with just dial-up ISP service will be able to participate. The videostreaming is driven by Windows Media Player. Glatt said all CIA needs is some lights, cameras, a couple computers and an IP connection betweeen NCUA’s office and CIA’s office to pull this off. CIA will bring about four or five of its employees to Alexandria, Va. to facilitate the broadcast. CIA EVP Jane Pannier will host the segment with McKenna, said Glatt. Registration is available at www.counterintel.com. [email protected]
