RIVERDALE, Utah – America First Credit Union has made credit union history here by offering the first ever walk-up windows in a supermarket credit union branch. Installed to alleviate overcrowding, the four walk-up remote teller windows are located inside a local Macey's grocery store. Since there is limited space available in the grocery store, two tellers operate the four windows and business is conducted via two-way video/audio and pneumatic tubes. "It works out really well in our drive ups. This is just carrying the concept inside," said AFCU Vice President of Branch Operations Randy Halley, According to Halley, a recently installed ATM with check-cashing ability works double duty as yet another teller. The South Ogden supermarket branch is still being remodeled, and once complete in mid-February two front-desk tellers will be added. Depending on member response at the South Ogden branch, remote teller windows may be placed in AFCU's remaining 17 supermarket branches. AFCU has $2.1 billion in assets.
