HARRISBURG, Pa. – Pennsylvania Credit Union League Chairman John Kebles, president/CEO, Choice One FCU in Wilkes-Barre sent a letter to the NCUA Board expressing the league's support for the repeal of the community action plan for federal community credit unions, and demonstrating the lack of need for the regulation. In his letter, Kebles pointed out that credit unions, regardless of their charter, serve their communities "through tireless charitable fundraising events." He also referred in his letter to Pennsylvania credit unions' CU$, a non-surcharging ATM alliance, as an example of community service. "We serve the underserved and have since our inception. Therefore, we are glad that the NCUA demonstrated the foresight and political leadership to repeal a rule that was unnecessary and senseless," Kebles stated.
