WASHINGTON – CUNA has alerted leagues – and asked them to pass on the advisory to their affiliated credit unions – that Gold Bank, Missouri which filed a lawsuit against CUNA last year in an effort to stop the credit union branding campaign, has attempted to get credit unions to turn over their branding campaign material. CUNA also said Gold Bank has taken depositions from CUNA employees involved in the branding campaign, and that a bank attorney contacted a credit union in Missouri for branding campaign information. The case is currently in discovery. Any credit union contacted by a representative from the bank should not make any statements nor turn over any documents, said CUNA. Instead they should contact CUNA's General Counsel Eric Richard or their league official. Following that procedure will help CUNA monitor Gold Bank's strategy.
