WASHINGTON-The Senate gave final approval to the education reform package by an 87-10 vote. The bill includes financial education measures lobbied for by the credit union community. The package passed the House earlier this month and is now awaiting the president's signature. The financial literacy provisions in H.R. 1 will provide assistance for teachers to educate students on important personal financial matters and would ease financial education grants.
