Credit unions continue to change their names to better reflect their membership. Here are a few of the more notable changes that occurred in 2001. * In a sign of the times, Postal Employees CU of Los Angeles changed its name to Priority One CU. The name was designed to reflect the CU's broader membership base of its community charter, without ignoring its postal roots. * The $1 billion Alabama Corporate Credit Union changed its name to Corporate America CU. It has a national FOM. * The $2.4 billion Hughes Aircraft Employees FCU, Manhattan Beach, Calif., changed its name to Kinecta FCU. The process cost the CU about $2 million. The change was made to better reflect the CU's diverse membership. It carried the Hughes name for 61 years. * The $880 million Dallas Teachers CU changed its name to the Credit Union of Texas.
