SANTA ROSA, Calif. – Rather than the 6% mandated by the Soldiers & Sailors Act, Community First Credit Union has lowered consumer loan interest rates to 0% for those members called to active duty. Community First CU members who are being activated to military duty can apply for the special program under the Soldiers & Sailors Act by notifying the credit union of their status and submitting the required verification. Upon return from active duty, the member must notify the credit union of their return to civilian status. "The men and women who are donning their uniforms to serve our country need to be applauded for their service and commitment. We want to support these dedicated Americans by waiving interest charges on loans," said CFCU President/CEO Bill Borjan. CFCU has $85 million in assets and serves 12,500 members.
