Air Academy Federal Credit Union, Colorado Springs, Colo., has celebrated the grand opening of its latest student operated branch in Rampart High School. Playing up its theme of "Key to Good Fortune at AAFCU" free fortune cookies were provided during the grand opening. In addition, members had a chance to open a treasure chest filled with $25 and $50 prizes. Evangelical Christian Credit Union, Anaheim, Calif., has held a groundbreaking ceremony for the first phase of their new financial ministry complex. The 385,000 square-foot headquarters will occupy 17 1/2 acres of land and includes a total of four buildings. ECCU plans to move into its new headquarters during the summer of 2002. Freedom Federal Credit Union, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., has broken ground on one of its latest office. The larger Bel Air facility will replace the $141 million credit union's current Festival branch and will feature three drive-thru windows, a drive-up ATM, community room and even a children's bank. Construction should be completed by the first half of 2002. SSA Baltimore Credit Union, Md., has held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of its sixth branch. The Franklin branch is a full service facility and includes 24-hour ATM access, safe deposits boxes, a night deposit box, and drive-thru service. Virginia Beach Schools Federal Credit Union, Va., has celebrated the grand opening of its new main branch. The ceremony began with an invocation by local Reverend Warren E. Singleton and was followed with speeches by such dignitaries as Virginia Beach Mayor Meyera Oberndorf; District 3 Councilwoman Reba McClanan; and Virginia Beach Schools Superintendent Dr. Timothy Jenney. Tours of the new state-of-the-art facility followed the speeches. Kemba Columbus Credit Union, Columbus, Ohio, has awarded PWCampbell a renovation contract. The facility will provide enhanced retail services and should be completed by the end of 2001. FAIRWINDS Credit Union, Orlando, Fla., has opened its first Super Wal-Mart location on Kirkman Road. The new Metro West facility offers full teller, loan and 24-hour ATM services. The service center is open six days a week. Technology Credit Union, San Jose, Calif., has secured a lease contract for a new full-service branch to open in Fremont. The new branch is scheduled to open during the first quarter of 2002. TCU has $800 million in assets and serves over 75,000 members. Eastern Financial Credit Union, Miramar, Fla., has opened another branch in the Tampa Bay region. The full service South Clearwater branch offers two 24-hour full-service drive-up ATMs. EFCU has more than $1.1 billion in assets and serves over 160,000 members. Security Service Federal Credit Union, San Antonio, Texas, has held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of its 17th location here. The new service center is fully equipped with such technology as remote video tellers, several CompuBranch stations, SSFCU's online banking system and a new PassVault system that allows access to safety deposit boxes by electronically measuring the shame of a hand. Lockheed Georgia Employees Federal Credit Union, Marietta, Ga., has held the grand opening of its newest Austell branch. In addition to a special ribbon cutting ceremony, LGEFCU festivities included special guest visits from members of the Cobb County Board of Commissioners, the Austell City Council, and the Cobb Chamber of Commerce.
