AUSTIN, Texas – James Deese has been appointed the new Texas Deputy Credit Union Commissioner. He succeeds Lynette Pool who left the Department in August to further her education in the accounting field. Deese has had an impressive career in credit union regulation. Initially hired in 1985 as an examiner, he steadily progressed through the ranks within the Department, including his most recent assignment as Regional Director. In this position, Deese was responsible for the oversight and coordination of the examination and supervision of all credit unions in the northern half of the state. Deese holds a Bachelor of Business Administration – Finance from Texas Tech University and has attended numerous other specialized training classes during his tenure with the Department.
