OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – This week two credit union representatives from Mexico are scheduled to visit U.S. Central Credit Union to learn about the U.S. credit union system and get an overview of U.S. Central and the corporate credit union network. The visit is in response to the Mexican government's development of Patronato del Ahorro Nacional (PAHNAL), a newly created, second-tier corporate bank for Mexico's credit unions. The visitors are working to establish a corporate-type credit union system in their homeland and are seeking information on credit union governance, rules, regulations, as well as financial operations, payment systems and asset/liability management. Mexico President Vicente Fox named Javier Gavito, the Director General of Banks and Savings for Mexico's Ministry of Finance, as Director General of PAHNAL. The visitors are high-level representatives from Gavito's office and will be visiting U.S. Central Nov. 26-28. WOCCU organized the trip.
