HARTFORD, Conn. – The Connecticut Department of Banking has approved the conversion of two more federal credit unions to state charters – Greenwich Connecticut Teachers FCU and Fairfield County FCU. Greenwich Connecticut Teachers FCU, Riverside, will be known as Members Credit Union. Its field-of-membership will include persons who live, work, attend school, or worship in Fairfield County, as well as their immediate family. The credit union has $16.6 million in assets and about 3,200 members. Fairfield County FCU's, Stamford, new name will be Fairfield County CU. Its FOM will also include persons who live, work, attend school or worship in Fairfield County, and their immediate family. The credit union is also retaining the select employee groups it was previously approved to serve by NCUA. The two latest federal-to-state charter conversions brings to four that have been approved by the Department of Banking since Sikorsky FCU-now known as Sikorsky Financial CU-became the first in Connecticut to do so in November 2000.
