ALBANY, N.Y. – Speaker of the New York State Assembly Sheldon Silver (D-Metro) recognized the role played by the New York State Credit Union League and its affiliated credit unions in the post-September 11th recovery efforts. In a letter to the League, Silver wrote, "Since the tragedy of Sept. 11th, the New York State Credit Union League's mission of `serving and supporting credit unions' has never been more appropriate. Through its hard work and dedication, the League has been instrumental in insuring that its members and customers suffer as little disruption as possible." He went on to say that, "The League can be especially proud of the Disaster Relief Fund it established in the wake of the terrorist attack.This inspiring effort shows the heart of the New York State Credit Union League and its affiliates. Everyone associated with the League can be proud of their efforts." To date, more than $678,000 has been raised for the Relief Fund.
