PASADENA, Calif. – Los Angeles Firemen's Credit Union has established a NYC Fallen Firefighters Fund to assist the families of the firefighters affected by the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. The credit union said the fund will help the New York City "fire family" cope with short-term and long-term expenses, allowing them to heal and overcome the tragic events. "The tragic events in Washington, D.C. and New York City have left many Americans feeling angry and frightened," said LAFCU President Mike Mastro. "It is a terrible tragedy that so many people have died needlessly. We as a firefighter credit union feel this even more deeply as we know what rigors and risks our active duty members assume on a daily basis. With the establishment of the assistance fund, we can help families heal and overcome this emotional crisis." Donations to the fund can be made by sending a check payable to: NYC Fallen Firefighters Fund, c/o Los Angeles Firemen's Credit Union, P.O. Box 60890, Los Angeles, Calif. 90060-0890, or by calling (800) 231-1626, ext. 390.
