Credit Union ONE, Ferndale, Mich., has held the grand opening of its new branch in Rochester Hills. To celebrate, Credit Union ONE will buy back unused checks from other financial institutions for $10, and provide a free box of checks to new members opening checking accounts. Credit Union ONE has $527 million in assets and serves 98,915 members. Alaska USA Federal Credit Union, Anchorage, has celebrated the grand opening of its new location in Oak Harbor, Washington. The branch includes three drive-up lanes, a 24-hour ATM and a new state-of the art UltraBranch self-service center inside the lobby. Community members helped celebrate the grand opening at an "After Hours" event at the branch. City Councilman Richard Davis officiated at the ribbon-cutting ceremony and other highlights included refreshments at the branch for members, a drawing for two $500 gift certificates good at Oak Harbor furniture stores, and visits from a clown. In addition, Alaska USA Mortgage Company has expanded services to Juneau. Senior Loan Originator Milt Brown will head the Juneau office. CommunityAmerica Credit Union, Kansas City, Mo., has broken ground on its new corporate administrative office. Mayor Joan Bowman and members of the Lenexa City Council attended groundbreaking ceremony and welcomed the CU to the city of Lenexa. The new 10,000 square-foot, three-story facility is expected to be completed in 2002. Susquehanna Valley Federal Credit Union, Camp Hill, has broken ground on a new 7,000 square-foot branch here. The new branch will have three drive-thru lanes, including an ATM lane and will offer greater convenience to SVFCU's 7,500 members. Construction is scheduled for completion in the fall of this year. SVFCU has $37 million in assets. Yellow Springs Community Federal Credit Union, Ohio, has awarded DEI, Inc. of Cincinnati, Ohio, a contract to remodel their main office. Houston Federal Credit Union, Sugar Land, Texas, has broken ground for a new headquarters. The ground breaking ceremony was hosted by Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce president Louis Garvin and special guests included Sugar Land's Mayor Dean Hrbacek. With shovels in hand, HFCU's Board of Directors broke ground for the new 23,000 square foot home office which will include a full service branch and administration offices. The state-of-the-art facility will have a cyber caf, special children's area, safe deposit boxes and six drive-thru lanes. The new facility is expected to be completed near the end of 2001. Washington Credit Union, Mountlake Terrace, has announced the opening of its tenth branch in Tacoma. Grand opening festivities included specials for checking, loan accounts and a special ribbon cutting ceremony sponsored by the Tacoma Pierce County Chamber of Commerce. Debbie Wenker has been named the new Tacoma branch manager. Washington Credit Union serves 50,000 members and has $200 million in assets. CommunityAmerica Credit Union, Kansas City, Mo., has broken ground on its new corporate administrative office. Mayor Joan Bowman and members of the Lenexa City Council attended groundbreaking ceremony and welcomed the CU to the city of Lenexa.
