WASHINGTON-Assistant to President George W. Bush on Economic Policy Larry Lindsey wrote CUNA President and CEO Dan Mica thanking CUNA for a letter about the credit union movement in the U.S. and letting him know that the administration is very interested in credit unions' work in cross-border issues. "The President supports President [Vincente] Fox in his efforts to ensure that the Mexican credit unions work with American credit unions to provide much needed services to those who are in need," Lindsey wrote. He also told CUNA that a task force on U.S.-Mexican border issues has been created and mentioned that discussions have already started between CUNA and Lindsey's staff. "I look forward to hearing more about your efforts," he concluded.
