MANCHESTER, U.K. – People love lotteries all over the world, but Association of British Credit Union Ltd. (ABCUL) credit unions and study groups in the South and West of England have even more reason to love the lottery. They have just won a 4200 pound grant from the British National Lottery "Awards for All" fund that will allow them to plan 4 training weekends over the next few months. "Awards for All" gives money to small groups to fund community projects and programs usually involving sports, arts, national heritage or community activities. To qualify a group must have an income of less than 15,000. Grants vary from between 500 and 5000. Training topics will include risk management, marketing, leadership and planning and will be lead by Sue Davenport, CEO of Leeds City Credit Union. Andy Williams from the Credit Union of Bournemouth Steering Group said: "This will provide an excellent opportunity for Credit Unions in the South West to enhance their skills and knowledge, in order to provide better services to members, and enable to movement in the region to grow and develop sustainability."
