Credit Union ONE, Ferndale, Mich., President and CEO, Armando Cavazos, has been named an honorary member of Beta Gamma Sigma honor society at the University of Detroit Mercy. Beta Gamma Sigma is an international honor society that recognizes outstanding academic achievements and professional excellence in business. The designation is considered the highest national honor for business students. Each year the honor society selects a business leader who exemplifies the qualities of honor and integrity while pursuing wisdom and earnestness in both business and the community. Workers Credit Union, Fitchburg, Mass., Collections Officer Ruby Hall has been selected for the Girl Scout Council’s “Woman of Distinction” program. The award honors a female employee who has shown exceptional dedication to her profession, exceeded the expectations of her position, been an inspiration to her co-workers and made contributions to the community. Workers CU has $350 million in assets and serves over 56,000 members. Army Aviation Center Federal Credit Union, Daleville, Ala., has received the Merit Award during the Alabama Credit Union League annual meeting. The Merit Award is earned by credit unions that have achieved the highest standard of member service and financial strength. In addition AACFCU has earned a gold and silver Addy Award for excellence in marketing and advertising by the Dothan Advertising Federation. The “When you’ve squeezed your lemon for all its worth” ad earned an Addy in the black and white print category, the “Payment Shaver Loan” ad earned a Gold Addy and the Annual Report to Members won a Silver Addy. AACFCU has $350 million in assets and serves 77,975 members. CAP COM Financial Services, a registered investment advisory firm, has announced that President/CEO David L. Fenelon has earned the Chartered Financial Consultant professional designation from the American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. The ChFC program focuses on developing an organized way to collect and analyze client information in order to develop a complete financial plan. CAP COM is a CUSO of Capital Communications Federal Credit Union. GTE Federal Credit Union, Tampa, Fla., has named Cassandra Brown “Employee of the Year” and Joao Silva “Manager of the Year”. The nominations for these awards are submitted by other members of the credit union staff and the recipients are chosen by a team of managers. GTE FCU has $802 million in assets and serves over 144,000 members. Steel Works Community Federal Credit Union, has presented a commemorative plaque to Coach Larry Shaw of the Oak Glen High School Wrestling team in honor of his outstanding hard work, dedication, determination and commitment to his team. SWCFCU makes it a point to honor the accomplishments of the youth and leaders of the Ohio Valley. Oak Trust Credit Union, Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., President/CEO Jim Dean has been named Executive of the Year by the Illinois Council of the Credit Union Executive Society. Dean was recognized in the under $50 million in asset category for his quality of leadership, the overall strength of the credit union and his commitment of volunteer service to his community. Visions Federal Credit Union, Endicott, N.Y., has received the Thomas J. Watson Bronze Award from the Broome County United Way. The credit union’s combined corporate and employee gifts ranged from $10,000 to $24,999. Visions FCU serves 92,000 members.
