The $117 million EECU – A Community Credit Union will be knownas Michigan Community Credit Union as of April 1.

The 16,800-member Jackson, Mich., institution said it was beengranted permission for the name change from the NCUA and thestate's Office of Financial and Insurance Services.

EECU was founded in 1936 to serve local educators and now has acommunity charter to serve people who live, work, worship or attendschool in 12 southern Michigan counties through its four branches,four in-school credit unions and more than 100 Financial Educationschool partnerships.

The name change is intended to reflect the credit union'smembership and to better position it for future growth, EECU said.

“The credit union's name may be changing but our employees andthe high level of personal service that members have come to knowand trust, will continue as always,” said SteveCobb, EECU president/CEO.

The credit union's current website is at www.eecu.us and will change to www.micommunitycu.com on April1, EECU said.
