During the NPR interview, Tony Emerson, CEO of the Credit Union League of Connecticut, and Brian Orenstein,president/CEO of the $756 million Charter Oak Federal Credit Union in Groton, Conn., expressedthe need for congressional action on raising the MBL cap, saying itwould allow for “much-needed small business lending that willstrike a positive boost in the local as well as nation'seconomy.”

Emerson and Orenstein also noted that seeking credit unioncharter enhancements such as a higher MBL cap and supplemental capital authority will be prioritiesfor CUNA and the leagues in 2013.
