The $1.9 billion NEFCU in Westbury, N.Y. is launching “A Season of Giving Donations Contest” on its Facebook page.
Via a special application, “likes” of the page can nominate and then vote for their chosen charity. All nominated charities must meet NEFCU’s community-based goals. The organization with the most votes will receive a $2,500 charitable contribution from NEFCU. The charity that receives the second highest amount of votes will receive $1,500, and the third will receive $1,000.
The contest begins Nov. 26, NEFCU said. Nominations must be made by 5 p.m. by Dec. 9 Voting will end at 5 p.m. Dec. 21. The winner of the “A Season of Giving Charity Donations Contest” will be announced Dec. 22 on the Facebook page.
“NEFCU has a proud, 74-year history of giving back to the communities we serve, and we are pleased to donate $5,000 to local Long Island charities this holiday season,” said Valerie Garguilo, NEFCU’s vice president of marketing and community relations. “There are so many deserving charities doing great work here on Long Island. Who better to decide the winner of this contest than the Long Islanders who support and benefit from their services?”
