Hurricane Sandy: All Navy Federal Branches Open Except Two

With the exception of two branches in New Jersey and New York that are closed due to power outages, Navy Federal Credit Union said all of its branches were open Thursday.

As a result of Hurricane Sandy, the $51 billion credit union in Vienna, Va., had to close or alter operation hours at nearly 40 of its branches in several states including in Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Virginia and in Washington, D.C.

The Merchant Marine Academy branch in Kings Point, N.Y., and a branch in Brown Mills, N.J., were still closed Thursday due to power outages, said Jeanette Mack, manager of corporate communications at Navy Federal.

After the storm, the credit union kept members posted on branch hours on its website and Facebook page.

While several of its 225 branches closed earlier this week, Navy Federal said it remained fully operations at its Virginia headquarters, call centers and through online and mobile banking.
