Trade Groups Piggyback on CUNA’s San Diego Meeting

Four trade groups are piggybacking their meetings at CUNA’s America’s Credit Union Conference and CUNA Mutual’s Discovery Conference in June in San Diego.

The Network of Latino Credit Unions & Professionals, the American Association of Credit Unions’ Education Directors and the Small Credit Union Roundtable are convening for the first time in conjunction with the major CUNA gathering, set this year for June 17-19 at the San Diego Convention Center.

Also meeting during the ACUC conclave is the Massachusetts Credit Union League, which convened with the ACUC three years ago in Boston.  The league will hold its own meetings on Sunday then, for the next three days, said the league, “we will meet together with credit union representatives from across the nation.”

CUNA and league officials said the idea of holding joint meetings is both a convenience and a cost saver on travel expenses for member credit unions.

The Latino group in the past had met in different cities including Pittsburgh two years ago.

This year the NLCUP said it is  “delighted that this year’s NLCUP meeting is co-located with ACUC, with powerful synergies between the two events. This is a great opportunity for our two organizations to strengthen and grow the credit union industry.” Todd Spiczenski, vice president of CUNA’s Center for Professional Development in Madison, Wis., said, “We believe the decision to hold their meetings in conjunction with ours is indicative of the strong appeal the America’s Credit Union Conference offers in terms of its lineup of America’s best business speakers, strong programming and broad networking opportunities.”
