COMSTAR Federal Credit Union, Frederick, Md., promoted four members of its senior staff to vice presidents and one to executive vice president. The moves come on the heels of the news that Victoria M. Johnston has been named permanent president/CEO of COMSTAR. The promotions include Sally Fink, who was promoted from vice president of member services to executive vice president. An 18-year COMSTAR veteran, Fink served as personnel officer, operations administrator and director of branch administration before being promoted to vice president of member services in 2000. In addition, Jonneita Bowins was promoted from accounting manager to vice president of finance; Kerry Smith was promoted from lending manager to vice president of lending; Rosalie Wilberger was promoted from internal auditor to vice president of internal audit; and Elizabeth Wilson was promoted from branch administrator to vice president of branch operations.
CPCU Credit Union, Somerville, Mass., announced the appointment of Albert Pinho to the position of senior lending officer. Pinho brings 25 years of experience in meeting the credit needs of individuals and businesses through innovative and member-centric lending programs and customized solutions. Most recently, Pinho headed residential and consumer lending at community banks in the Boston area. He also held similar positions at American National Bank in Omaha, Neb. Pinho is an honors graduate of Harvard University with a bachelor’s degree in economics and is a graduate of the ABA National Graduate Schools of Real Estate Lending and the ABA Graduate School of Retail Lending. At CPCU Credit Union, Pinho will become part of the senior management team and will be responsible for all lending functions. His immediate goals are to expand the scope of lending products available to the members of CPCU Credit Union, and to improve their delivery, so that its members experience innovative and collaborative solutions to their financial goals.
San Diego County Credit Union, San Diego, named Nathan Schmidt as executive vice president of marketing. He was previously vice president of marketing and e-services for the past seven years at Schools Financial Credit Union of Sacramento, Calif. He also served at Schools as e-services manager and marketing specialist. With 15 years of financial services management experience, Schmidt will be responsible for strategic planning, marketing, product development, business development, and community and media relations at SDCCU. A native of Van Nuys, Calif., Schmidt has a bachelor’s degree from California State University and a master’s in business administration from Saint Mary’s College. He also has served as a teacher at the University of Phoenix for such classes as marketing, business management, public relations, ethics, business strategy and innovation for a competitive advantage. He has been active as a board member and past president of the California Credit Union League, Sacramento Valley Chapter, and member of the Service Delivery Advisory Group for PSCU Financial Services, based in St. Petersburg, Florida. He also has served on the education resource board for California State University, Sacramento and the Advisory Counsel for the Sacramento City College School of Business.
Community 1st Credit Union, Ottumwa, Iowa, announced James Holle has been appointed as chief financial officer. Holle has an extensive accounting background. He most recently worked at Paslode as a plant controller/finance manager. He has also held positions as accounting manager, assistant controller and accounting specialist for Monfort, Inc. Holle has a bachelor’s degree in business education and a master’s degree in accounting from the University of Iowa.
First American Credit Union, Parchment, Mich., announced the addition of Kris Frey as commercial lender and the promotion of Cathy Prusansky as internal audit associate. Frey comes to First American with 33 years of experience in the financial industry, the majority of those years concentrated in the area of commercial lending. With his previous roles including vice president commercial loans, controller and credit analyst, Frey brings a well-rounded balance of finance and commercial lending experience to the credit union. He holds a bachelor of business administration in marketing from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater. During her 12 years at First American, Prusansky has worked in the areas of accounting and operations, often holding responsibilities and managing people in both areas simultaneously.
MSU Federal Credit Union, East Lansing, Mich., announced the promotions of Amanda Van Ess to Marsh branch manager and Tiffany Leonard to assistant Marsh branch manager. Van Ess has been with MSUFCU since July 2001, most recently holding the position of branch manager at MSUFCU’s Union Branch. She is currently working toward a business management degree at Lansing Community College. Leonard has worked at MSUFCU since July 2007, most recently in the position of loan officer. She is currently attending Lansing Community College and plans to transfer to Northwood University to obtain her bachelor’s degree in management.
El Paso Employees Federal Credit Union, El Paso, Texas, has hired Bertha Burciaga as the mortgage loan processor and loan servicer. Burciaga will be responsible for overseeing the loan servicing functions, which include making disbursements for insurance and taxes on mortgage and home equity loans, auditing home equity and mortgage loans, and working up the release of liens on paid out loans. Prior to joining EPEFCU, Burciaga worked as a loan processor, funding clerk, assistant to the closing clerk and auditor for Rocky Mountain Mortgage Co.
