David Root
David Root, owner of Root and Associates, has been named chief executive officer of Coventry Credit Union, Coventry, R.I. Root, at CPA, has been Coventry Credit Union’s independent auditor for the past 20 years. He replaces retired CEO Richard Gingell.
“It is our pleasure to officially appoint David Root to his new position. More than 30 years experience in the banking industry, combined with a longstanding relationship with our staff makes David the perfect fit to lead Coventry Credit Union. We look forward to an exciting future together,” said Roger Laliberte, chairman of the board of directors.
“I am eager to get started in my new role and am committed to the collective success of Coventry Credit Union and our members, ” said Root.
Root, a licensed certified public accountant in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island, graduated with a B.A. in American history and a M.S. in accounting from the University of Rhode Island. He has more than nine years of auditing experience with Big Four accounting firms, working with both Price Waterhouse Coopers and Ernst & Young. Since 1991, he has been the owner of Root & Associates, devoting 100 percent of his time to the credit union industry.
Coventry Credit Union was established in 1950 and has 31,000 members.
