SBA Renews Minority Business Partnership

The SBA said it has renewed its two-year partnership agreement with the Minority Business RoundTable to continue joint outreach efforts to minority entrepreneurs.

The agreement allows the organizations to share resources and educate minority entrepreneurs on how to use SBA products and services to establish and grow their businesses, according to the agency. The MBRT is a national membership organization for minority CEOs that represents minority businesses. The partnership agreement went into effect Jan. 11.

Women, African-American, Asian, Hispanic, Native American and veteran-owned businesses have received more than $4 billion in SBA-backed loans, about 23% of the more than $18.5 billion in small business lending SBA has supported under the Recovery Act, the agency said. Minority-owned small businesses also have received more than $3 billion worth of federal contracts under the act's provisions.
