According to the SBA, the $715 million credit union provided 21 SBA loans to existing and start-up businesses totaling $3.76 million. Corning led all small lenders in the under $1 billion in assets category among the 34 counties in the Syracuse district. The credit union's efforts represent a 162% increase in the number of loans and 340% increase in the dollar amount of loans over the past year. Corning became an SBA lender in 2006 and has approved more than $5.9 million in agency loans since then.
On Nov. 9, the SBA presented Corning Business Service Manager Ted Goldwyn with the 2009 community lender award at a ceremony held at the credit union.
