Corning FCU Among Top SBA Lenders

For its lending efforts over the past year, the SBA has named Corning Federal Credit Union the top small community lender in the Syracuse, N.Y. district.
According to the SBA, the $715 million credit union provided 21 SBA loans to existing and start-up businesses totaling $3.76 million. Corning led all small lenders in the under $1 billion in assets category among the 34 counties in the Syracuse district. The credit union's efforts represent a 162% increase in the number of loans and 340% increase in the dollar amount of loans over the past year. Corning became an SBA lender in 2006 and has approved more than $5.9 million in agency loans since then.
On Nov. 9, the SBA presented Corning Business Service Manager Ted Goldwyn with the 2009 community lender award at a ceremony held at the credit union.
