Dodd to Announce Reg Restructuring Plan Tomorrow

Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd (D-Ct.) is scheduled to announce his proposal for restructuring financial services regulation at noon tomorrow.

Dodd has said his plan will include a single regulator for all banks, but lobbyists for CUNA and NAFCU have said they have been told that the NCUA would remain a separate agency. No reason was announced for the postponement.

Dodd's committee also postponed tomorrow's hearing on Dodd's bill to regulate overdraft programs, at which Pentagon Federal Credit Union President/CEO is scheduled to testify, until next Tuesday. It had originally been scheduled for tomorrow.

The House Financial Services Committee is working on various bills o regulatory restructuring and Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) said last week he plans on having them ready so they can be considered by the full House in the first week of December.
