Kathleen Coulombe
America's Credit Unions has appointed longtime Washington advocate Kathleen Coulombe as its new chief advocacy officer, bringing nearly two decades of experience in federal policy and government relations to the role.
Coulombe, who will join the organization April 20, most recently served as SVP of federal relations at the American Council of Life Insurers, where she led advocacy strategy on Capitol Hill and with federal regulators. She previously spent more than a decade at the Society for Human Resource Management, helping shape national workplace and labor policy efforts.
"Throughout this search we had the opportunity to meet an impressive group of candidates," President/CEO Scott Simpson said. "Kathleen stood out for her strategic leadership, deep understanding of Washington's policy landscape and proven ability to lead successful advocacy efforts."
Her background also includes roles at the U.S. Department of Defense and the Office of Nevada Governor Kenny Guinn, where she worked on policy coordination and constituent services.
In her new role, Coulombe will oversee federal advocacy strategy and coordinate closely with state leagues to advance credit union policy priorities nationwide.
"Credit unions play a vital role in helping millions of Americans access affordable financial services," Coulombe said. "I look forward to working with policymakers and industry leaders to support that mission."
The hire followed a national search led by Korn Ferry and signaled a continued focus on strengthening credit union advocacy efforts in Washington.
