Constant AI on Monday announced the launch of Nia, an agentic artificial intelligence tool designed to fully automate skip-a-pay requests, one of the most common and labor-intensive processes for credit unions.

The Portland, Maine-based fintech said Nia can complete the entire transaction across voice, chat, digital banking and text channels without staff involvement. The system evaluates eligibility in real time, applies institution-specific rules, and writes approvals or denials directly back to the core system within minutes.

Skip-a-pay programs are widely offered but often require manual processing that can take several days, creating operational strain and risking member ineligibility due to delays. With consumer delinquency rates rising, demand for these programs has increased, particularly among indirect auto lending members who may be less engaged.

Michigan State University Federal Credit Union, an $8 billion institution, was among the first to deploy the technology.

"AI technology like Nia helps simplify a complex process in channels our members are already comfortable using," President/CEO April Clobes said.

Built on a deterministic state machine with an agentic conversational layer, Nia emphasizes auditability and compliance. Constant AI said its infrastructure has already processed more than 1.5 million automated transactions.

The launch also aligned with the company's partnership with Eltropy's new agentic AI platform serving more than 750 credit unions.
